One week in!

Today was just another day on the island. No plan so we just kinda bummed. Me, Gretta and Hazel grabbed a taxi and went shopping and got some really neat hand made bracelets, baskets and hair clips to bring home. The boys went to go look for sand toys but could not find any. We met back up at the hotel and went to the small beach at our hotel to make sand castles. After about an hour it started raining. When it rains here it does not phase the Marshallese...they just keep swimming or walking down the road like it is no big deal. So the kids wanted to act Marshallese. So Hazel and I ran under a gazebo and Al and the kids contiued to play and swim in the rain. It does not lightening here..

We then ate lunch in our room and all took naps. Gretta and I got stir crazy and the boys and Hazel kept sleeping. So Gretta and I took off and went and got $10 pedicures and walked to the grocery store to get some food. There was a big party at the Delap park to send off a few atheletes to the Micronesian games so we checked that out a bit and got ice cream cones for the walk home.

We then had the other family who here here to adopt their son over to our room to hang a bit and then went down to the restaurant togehter for dinner. They have a daughter likes to play with the kids.

Tomorrow we are going to Eneko island with the other family that is also here adopting. Eneko is a private island owned by the family who owns one of the hotels here. We will take about a 40 minute boat ride to the island. It has beautiful beaches, a picnic area and even a toilet! They drop us off in the morning and come pick us up about 4. We could stay overnight but with a baby that might be a bit much.

Below is a view from our balcony.

Hazel is obsessed with Clover Nolan's good luck bear. They have frequent stare downs. Here everyone is eating breakfast around her. You can see how tiny she is. 3 months old and only 10 lbs! She can rock a mohawk like nobody's business. I think I am going to have her go as Don King for her 1st Halloween.

The kids all tend to surround Hazel all the time.

  1. WOW! Thanks for the daily updates...this blog will be a great keepsake.
Some people have not been able to get to your blog so I have been copying this to a word doc and sending out daily....I also am printing it and hanging it on the wall outside my cube....lots of people stopping and reading and commenting on what a "cutie" Hazel is (Hope you don't mind me sharing). Continue to enjoy and treasure this precious time with your family!
